This 2015 Mclaren P1 has 176 miles on the odometer and is located in Fresno, CA. It is a hybrid hyper car that comes with a 7-Speed Automatic transmission and a top speed of 217 mph. It has an exterior color called “flintgrau” and its interior color is title “oxblood red”. It is the 170th P1 made by Mclaren.

This article series is going to be researching the pros, cons, and bottom like of purchasing a Tesla vehicle in your state, which today is Texas.

Pros

  • Tesla Supercharging situation is fantastic, if you leave near a large city like Dallas or Houston.
  • At home charging means that you won’t need these charging stations, unless you decide to take a road trip. An at home charger is highly recommended for any electric car.
  • Gas costs – Texas currently ranks #1 in gas prices (1 being cheapest and 50 being the most expensive). So your gas is cheap, but costs of electricity are still cheaper.
  • Only the Model 3 requires you pay at a supercharger, but electricity is still cheaper than gas (see above).
  • If you purchase a Model S or X your supercharging is free, so over time your car is cheaper to maintain.
  • Tesla cars will (obviously, but sometimes forgotten) not need oil changes. This also adds to the “cheaper to maintain” model.
  • Tesla Vehicles need brake replacements every 100,000 miles! Due to the regenerative breaking, you can go longer without using your break.
  • The acceleration… any Tesla model is punchy and fun to drive.
  • Tesla vehicles come with an App!! That’s right, your car can be preheated, turned on, and even moved by your phone.
  • Your phone is your key on your Tesla… so there’s no need for the key chain.
  • Due to the warmer Texas climate, your car wont lose charge during the winters.

Cons

  • Most of the wide-open-space area of Texas is without charging stations.
  • This one might be weird but its true: the Tesla door handles can get seriously hot in hot weather.

Bottom Line: The pros are overwhelming! The cons for owning a Tesla in Texas don’t go past the initial costs to buy the car and the lack of charging in the sparser areas of Texas. Texas is one of the prime states to buy a Tesla, as charging installation isn’t hard to find.

This article series is going to be researching the pros, cons, and bottom like of purchasing a Tesla vehicle in your state, which today is Indiana.

Pros

  • Tesla Supercharging situation is pretty good, if you live anywhere near a large city like Indianapolis or Fort Wayne you have relatively good access to away-charging .
  • All Wheel Drive models of the Model 3, Model S, and Model X are great and a must have for those 12 inch + snow days.
  • Where Supercharging stations are lacking, Chargepoint.com has non-Tesla chargers all throughout Indiana, with the only major gap of charging being in the Lafayette to South Bend region.
  • At home charging means that you won’t need these charging stations, unless you decide to take a road trip. An at home charger is highly recommended for any electric car.
  • Gas costs – Indiana currently ranks #26 in gas prices (1 being cheapest and 50 being the most expensive).
  • Only the Model 3 requires you pay at a supercharger, but electricity is still cheaper than gas (see above).
  • If you purchase a Model S or X your supercharging is free, so over time your car is cheaper to maintain.

  • Tesla presence in Indiana isn’t all that large. We are still waiting for more service stations and stores.
  • The cheapest Tesla you can buy will set you back at least $35,000. And that model is hidden from public eye.
  • The all-wheel-drive cars are pretty expensive.
  • If you do happen to run out of charge on the road… there’s no real back up plan.

Bottom Line: The Pros far outweigh the cons. The only foreseeable issues you will run into are if you decide to go on road trips, and the initial cost of owning a Tesla. But after you’ve made the purchase, it only gets easier from there. With cheaper maintaining costs, and a great all-wheel-drive system, it makes driving in Indiana a bit easier… and more fun.

Should You Buy an Electric Car?

This is a question that is often asked in America, and around the world today. Now, we are going to give you an answer based on where you live, your income, and what electric car is best for you. It should be noted than the things talked about in this article will only be renewed over time. It should also be noted that new car brands are coming out with new electric cars every month. New options will always be available in the future. Let’s get in to it…

For starters, we are only counting 100% electric cars in this list. No plug in hybrid or flex fuel cars. Just electric vehicles.

The electric vehicle market is massive, and the prices on electric cars are only falling as technology improves. But some problems like range anxiety still exist in the United States for people who are considering buying electric cars. Below are two maps of chargers across the United States. The first map is a map of all the superchargers in North America. Superchargers are charging stations that work exclusively for Tesla Vehicles, and no other electric cars. The second map shows charging points for all types of cars, including Tesla’s if you have an adapter.

Essentially, if you live in the states from Montana down to New Mexico and North Dakota down to Kansas, I would not recommend getting an electric car right now. Especially if you don’t live near a somewhat large city, as there are exceptions in all the states I mentioned. Examples would be Denver, CO and Salt Lake City, UT. These places are abounding in chargers and would be prime places for owning an electric car. But areas that are more wide open spaces probably should wait until more chargers reach their area. It is pretty similar with Tesla vehicles, as the only chargers than aren’t in cities follow major highways. If you don’t happen to live by the city or a highway, then buying a Tesla might also not be the best idea. If you do decide to get one anyway, I would recommend a Tesla model with at least a 100 kWh battery, so that you have maximum range possible. Also, the superchargers are far more abundant in this area than the standard charging areas, and you will find it easier to fill up after longer trips.

The Electric Car to get in the West Coast

If you live in the West Coast area (Washington to Arizona), you are in prime electric car real estate. Especially if you live in the state of California, where they have lanes designated for electric cars only. In the west coast, charging stations and Tesla Chargers are abundant. You can hardly go a mile without seeing one. You won’t need a car with massive mileage like a 100D model Tesla, but I also think you might be handicapping yourself if you decide to pick up an older Nissan Leaf. I would recommend the Chevy Bolt and Tesla Model 3 (base model) if you live in this region. Each comes with around 250 miles of range, which is more than enough to get you to your next charging station. Each also are very high tech cars, that don’t lack performance, but also don’t excel it in. If you are going for a more family car, the Jaguar I-Pace is the best option as it is the cheapest of the SUV’s available right now.

If you live in the Midwest, which is Minnesota over to Michigan and everything under, you need to have a Model 3. Tesla chargers in this area are surprisingly abundant and the All Wheel Drive on the Model 3 will come handy in the snow that often occurs in the northern most areas of the region. The Long Range on the Model 3 would be recommended as to ease any range anxiety. 300 miles should be plenty to get you to your next charger, or your at home Tesla charger which I highly recommend you get. It becomes the equivalent of charger your phone at night, and leaves you with 300 miles of fresh charge daily. Also, in the winter electric cars can lose a bit of range due to the cold, so it is a good idea to have the longer range to cushion how far your car will be able to travel. I cannot recommend any non-AWD cars due to the fact that winter without it will be terrible. Also, non AWD electric cars tend to perform poorly in snow and slick conditions.

In the New England to Florida area, you are also in prime Electric car real estate. Those who live in the warmer parts don’t need to worry about getting AWD cars, or worry about longer range vehicles. The Base Model 3, Chevy Volt, and New Leaf will all work for these warmer climates. You won’t lose any range due to cold weather, and you also won’t need power to all wheels in bad weather scenarios. But as we get more north, the Bolt and Leaf recommendations fizzle out to longer range Model 3’s and Model S’s. Tesla chargers in the New York area are absurdly close, and there may not even be a need to install your own charger at your house. But in the more spread out areas of Maine and Pennsylvania, at home charger is definitely recommended. As more all wheel drive electric cars become available, more will be recommended in cold weather areas. But for now, Tesla dominates this area of the electric car world, and that is why it is the only on we can recommend for the colder New England region.

Keeping with the theme of relatively unknown auto manufacturers this week, we have the car company known as Noble. Noble Automotive Ltd. was started in 1999 in West Yorkshire by Lee Noble. The aim was produce his performance, rear-wheel-drive cars for the world. The first car manufactured by Noble was the M10, which was made from 1999 to 2000. Very few were ever put into production, as the Nobel M12 was soon to follow. The Nobel M12 was put into production in 2000 and ended production in 2008. The M12 featured 3 different engines over time with a 2.5 liter option producing 310 bhp and two 3.0 liter engine both producing 352 bhp. The acceleration on the M12 is very quick, but not insane as it does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. The top speed was somewhere in the area of 170 mph.

After the Noble M10 and M12 came the Noble M400, a track variant of the M12. The Noble M400 had 425 horsepower and nasty acceleration, with a 0-60 time of just 3.3 seconds. The top speed for the M400 is 185 mph and it often came in a boring grey color. Only 75 Noble M400 models were ever made, making them rare and sought after in the car collecting world. The M400 was made from 2004 but was discontinued in 2007. After the track oriented Noble M400 was discontinued, the M14 was to be the next car produced. But, they decided to move their preorders to their next car, the M15. But the M15 never quite made it into production, and so it still remains a legend.

The final major Noble vehicle to be produced was the Noble M600. In 2010, the M600 began its sales production. The engine on the M600 is a twin-turbo charged V8 produced by Volvo that puts out 650 horsepower. Its acceleration is quick, as it does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. It is assumed to top out at 185 mph, and only 70 models were ever made of it.

The bottom line is that Noble Automotive is a very underrated car maker. They haven’t sold many models, but their cars performance extraordinarily in almost all circumstances. As to why they aren’t better know, it is because of the lack of Nobles on the road. Very few people can say that they’ve ever seen a Noble in their neighborhood or on the highway. But, that should discourage you as Noble plans for a new model to come out in 2020.

If you are curious about Noble M400 models for sale, here are some models in the USA (Pennsylvania), Florida, Arizona, California, and the UK. The price for a typical M400 seems to be in the $60,000-$150,000 range. There are also a few results on eBay, but I can’t vouch for the legitimacy of any of those models. An additional piece of information, Noble cars came in a variety of colors such as black, grey, orange, blue, light blue, green, red, and occasionally purple.

Blue Koenigsegg One:1 Doors Opened

The Koenigsegg One:1 is the best car by means of performance without a shadow of a doubt. It has a top speed of 285 mph, a 0-60 time of 2.7 seconds, and a whopping 1,341 horsepower. Also, the car looks simply fantastic. But with those great looks comes a hefty price, a Koenigsegg 1:1 will set you back about $3 million. Unique doors add to a feeling of pure power and performance. Obviously this car isn’t conventional, but neither is its maker. Koenigsegg isn’t your normal performance car maker. Once can see that just from its country of origin. It isn’t German. It isn’t Italian. It isn’t even British. It’s Swedish. That’s right… the country that brought you Saab and Volvo also brings you the best performance car to date. 

2. Pagani Huayra

From another unknown carmaker (to most) we bring you the Pagani Huayra BC, the best looking car every produced in the history of cars. Not to mention stellar performance, with a top speed of 238 mph, 0-60 time of 2.8 seconds, and 720 HP. It’s interior is flawless and luxurious, but it comes a a price. Mainly a cost of 3.4 million dollars. Regardless, the Huayra is fantastic with elegant butterfly doors, beautiful styling, and insane performance it’s no wonder why it comes second to the Koenigsegg.

3. Bugatti Chiron

Coming in a number 3 is a popular hypercar, the Bugatti Chiron. This car is absolutely insane and if this list was by performance alone, it would be in its own category. It has a top speed of 261 mph, 0-60 time of 2.4 seconds, and 1,479 horsepower. Essentially it is a drag race and track king. So why isn’t it ranked ahead of the Pagani and Koenigsegg? Looks and price. The Bugatti looks just fine, but a Hermes edition is what really catched peoples eyes. But the normal version certainly doesn’t look the 2+ million dollars it costs. But as far as performance goes, it is in a class of its own. 

4. Porsche 918 Spyder

The Porsche 918 Spyder is the start of a new tier that will end with the Senna. The 918 is Porsche’s attempt to rival Mclaren and Ferrari with their hybrid hypercar. And they won that battle by far. It has a top speed of 214 mph, 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds, and 875 horsepower. The combination of performance, visual effect, and technology is what makes this car the top of its class. The Carrera GT-like chassis looks sleek and it is currently one of the quickest production cars ever made. It is truly insane, even for 2019.

5. Ferrari LaFerrari

Coming second in the Holy Trinity is the Ferrari LaFerrari (Aperta Edition). Why is it second? It has a top speed of 217 mph, 0-60 of 2.4 seconds, and 950 hp. So it clearly is better than the P1 below, but why isn’t it listed ahead of the 918 Spyder? Simple, technology. The LaFerrari has the edge on performance by a hair, but the Porsche has more and better technology. The LaFerrari also is just a hair over-the-top in its design element. It is close, but the Ferrari does come in second. 

6. McLaren P1

The Mclaren P1 (LM) is the final part of the Holy Trinity (maybe Holy 4) hypercars with the 918 Spyder and the LaFerrari. It comes third with a top speed of 217 mph, a 0-60 time of 2.8 seconds, and 903 horsepower. It shows off its stereotypical McLaren look and comes with scissor doors (unlike the 918). As for why it is third, it is just worse than the 918 and worse than the LaFerrari. The Porsche 918 is quicker and lighter, and in my opinion looks better. The Laferrari performs better all-around. But the P1 is the third out of four in my tier. 

7. Mclaren Senna

The McLaren Senna (GTR) ends the tier that started with the 918 spyder. I will tell you why: Top speed of 211 mph, 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, and 789 horsepower. It is only 6 mph slower than the top of the trinity, mimics the acceleration of the P1, and only suffers from horsepower due to its lack of hybrid drivetrain. With those specs, it definitely deserves a spot among the three, but definitely not ahead of them. 

8. Lamborghini Aventador

The Lamborghini Aventador (SVJ) is stunning from the moment you see it. It looks like nothing you have ever seen before, and performs that way as well. It has a top speed of 217 mph, a 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds, and 690 horsepower. It is an incredible car that appeals to your sight, sound, and touch. This supercar is a given, and a classic example of a performance car.

9. Ford GT

The Ford GT (2020 Model Year) is the only American car on our list, and we couldn’t ask for a better representative. The GT tops out at 216 mph, does 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, and has 647 horsepower. It is stunning and deserves its place on this list. It tops out at incredible high speeds and its acceleration rivals that of the top cars on the list. The only place it suffers is its mediocre horsepower output. But it still beats one car on this list.

10. Mercedes AMG GT

The Mercedes AMG GTR ends the tier that started with the Aventador. The Mercedes AMG GT tops out at 193 mph, does 0-60 in 3.0 seconds, and has 516 horsepower. It is Mercedes ultimate performance car, and is the safety car for Formula One racing. As far as looks go, Mercedes could have done a little more to make the car stand out, but it still looks very clean. And an AMG-formed 4 Liter Twin-Turbo V8 doesn’t hurt either.
